John Cook, Instructor

Diveheart Instructor , NAUI Instructor, PADI Instructor

AKA: I received my Open Water certification in 2003 while I was going to college.  I remember the Instructor saying, I know everyone is in here for the easy "A".  And I said to myself, we get a grade for this too, sweet! After getting my OW cert, my diving was pretty much lakes, rivers, ponds and rock quarries.  I then started helping out on my County's Search & Rescue Team.  I became an Advance Diver and then that lead me into the Dive Rescue class where I was then certified as a Rescue Diver.  I then graduated from college and moved to the PNW.  While living here in the PNW, I was not diving very often.  I was only diving on vacations and it wasn't enough for me, so I decided that I needed to find a dive shop here so that I could get in more diving.  I then started my Divemaster program in 2012 and became a Divemaster for the local shop.  I realized that I liked helping and teaching students, so in 2014 I became an Instructor.

Why I Became A Dive Buddy: I have met some really great friends and traveled all over the globe.  I enjoy watching students take their first breaths under water and watching their facial expressions and their eyes light up!  I love going to new destinations and seeing animals and creatures that I have not seen before.  Working at SAFE Scuba, I didn't realize the joy that I would have with working with Adaptive Divers and Discover Scuba Experience with the Veterans.  For me to see people that would normally not try diving, then go out there and do it, blew my mind!!!  It's very rewarding to see the determination and happiness that diving brings to everyone.

Favorite Place To Dive: The next one!  Seriously, I love diving anywhere!  I enjoy diving new and old dive sites.  No dive is ever repeated, something different is always noticed (IMO).
