Tim Lenihan, Board Member
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
AKA: I have worked in government service my entire adult life. I started as a Military Police Investigator in the Army, was an Infantry Drill Sergeant, served in combat during Desert Storm, became a police officer and am currently an Investigator and Mediator for the State of Oregon. My passions have been to continue to serve our nations warriors. I have served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Northwest Steelheaders and am Pro Staff for The Fallen Outdoors. Both organizations have a mission to serve veterans, and I continue to work in that capacity during my free time with both organizations today.
Why I became a Dive Buddy: I have seen first-hand how outdoor experiences can shape a person’s wellbeing, attitude and outlook. I enjoy watching others grow through experiences in the outdoors. Some family members within my family face physical adversities enjoying the outdoors and I enjoy being in a position to help them fully experience what the outdoors has to offer. The joy I can feel from them helps to fill my emotional cup as well.
Favorite Places to Dive: I am definitely a warm water diver! I have been fortunate enough to dive in Hawaii, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Roatan Honduras. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite as each one has offered a new and exciting experience. Any chance I get to spend some time under (warm) water, I am in!
Why I became a Diver: I had an unfortunate incident when I was younger involving water. I developed an irrational fear of being confined or being under water. The pace and proficiency of the program to become a certified diver helped me to manage those fears. I am still amazed at the underwater world every time I get to experience it.
